Lötters gemstones and sculpture gallery

More information

Is it a gemstone shop, a gallery or a museum? There is something to be said for all three names. A shop because you can buy the most beautiful jewelry and gemstones at Lötters Gemstones, a gallery because everything in the display cases is very artfully made by people and nature and a museum because there are so many types, sizes and shapes of stones on display. Either way, the building at Vischpoortstraat 28 in Elburg is more than worth a visit.

Opposite at no. 29 you will find Lötters sculpture gallery. Two floors offer a wide collection of sculptures from Zimbabwe; abstract, animals and human figures. The unique statues are all from Zimbabwe and made of serpentine mined in the country's plateau, the Great Dyke. Serpentine is a collective name for different types of stone such as opal, springstone and fruit serpentine. The size of the sculptures vary from small to about one and a half meters.
